Course Aim

The aim of the course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely operate powered access equipment, covering two powered access products – Mobile Vertical (3a) + Mobile Boom (3b). 

Course Content

The course covers: 

  • Health & Safety regulations and legislation 
  • Accident control and prevention 
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Working at Height regulations 
  • Operation and safe manoeuvre of machines 
  • Pre-use inspection 
  • Auxiliary and manual descent procedure 
Where to attend

Courses are held at our training centre in Kirkcaldy, delivered by our team of instructors.

This course can also be delivered to groups at your location, or at a location close to you.

Assessment

Candidates will undergo practical training and assessment as well as a written theory test. 

Who should attend

The IPAF 3a and 3b course is designed for operators of powered access equipment, also known as cherry pickers or mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) to demonstrate that they are trained and competent to operate MEWPs.

Candidates for IPAF courses must be at least 16 years of age. They must be medically fit to operate machinery. 

Candidates must have the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment with them i.e. Helmet, Safety Boots, Hi-Visibility Vest, Harness & Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.
