SQA Level 1 Award: Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

Course Aim

The SQA Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment at SCQF level 4 helps candidates develop the necessary knowledge required to progress on to complete the CSCS touchscreen test.

The qualification is independently rated at SCQF Level 4 with 1 credit, and is part of the approved route for CSCS Green Labourers Card.

 

Course Content

This SQA Level 1 Award will provide learners with an understanding of:

  •  Principles of Risk Assessment for Maintaining and Improving Health and Safety at Work.
  • Common hazards and dangers in the workplace.
  • Common causes of injuries.
  • Fire and electricity.
  • Hazardous substances.
  • Working at heights.
  • Manual handling.
  • Working safely around plant equipment.

Courses are held at our training centre in Kirkcaldy, delivered by our team of trusted instructors.

This course can also be delivered to groups at your location.

Assessment

1 x multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.

Who should attend

The SQA Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is aimed at individuals working, or looking to work, in the construction industry. The course is also suitable for school leavers, students, and trainees preparing for employment.

This course is also an approved route for the Green Labourer CSCS Card, in conjunction with sitting a CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

There are no candidate pre-requisites for this course.
