Excavator 360

The aim of this course is to provide operators with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate a 360 excavator. This course includes theory and practical elements, with tests being conducted on each.

By the end of the course, operators should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities as an operator
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the machine and how to operate it safely
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook
  • Locate and identify the major components and controls of the machine and explain their functions
  • Explain the loading/unloading procedures for machine transport
  • Conduct all pre-operation checks
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
  • Safely mount and dismount the machine
  • Configure the machine for travel then move off and stop safely
  • Manoeuvre the machine safely when laden and unladen, over varying terrain and rough ground, in open and confined areas and on inclines
  • Excavate differing types of excavations, in various types of ground
  • Safely load material onto transporting vehicle or into containers
  • Reinstate excavation, grade, spread and level ground and materials
  • Fit, adjust and/or remove attachments
  • Lift, move, travel with and place a variety of slung loads (Lifting Operations)
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

NPORS
The course duration depends on the experience level of the operators attending. Typically they are -

- Novice | 10 days | max 3 operators
- Novice - reduced days | 2-5 days | max 3 operators
- Refresher | 1 day | max 3 operators
- Experienced Worker Test | 1-days | max 4 operators
