Last week saw the teachers and pupils receiving a well earned break from the intensity of the home schooling in the form of mid-term break. I am hoping that those of you with school children managed to enjoy some time off with them and have returned to work feeling refocused and rebalanced!  I know that some will also be adapting to the ever changing school situation with some pupils returning to the classroom this week.

Last week here at Raeburn Training saw a lot of planning on behalf of our customers which actually seems to have been the theme in January and February. In particular we had 3 clients who had applied for CITB funding towards their annual training plan. Whilst awaiting it’s approval we have been scheduling in some bookings (paid by from the funding) so they are ready to move forward with training swiftly.

Our other big milestone for last week was delivering an important tender which would secure work with an existing client for the coming years, it’s always a exciting yet nerve-wracking process to be part of!

Our Values – Safety

Safety will be at the forefront of everything we do, without compromise.

We will ensure a safe working and learning environment for all through adopting best practice and behavioural safety concepts throughout the training lifecycle and all aspects of business, making improvements as required.

We will expect the highest standard of safety compliance from all involved in our operation from directors and employees to subcontractors and customers. Training staff has many benefits and with funding routes available, particularly for construction companies, there is very little outlay.

Why don’t you organise a chat with Jen who can sense check your current plans and give you the peace of mind everything is in place?

Meet the Team

This week it’s my pleasure to introduce Derek our training co-ordinator. Derek is the friendly voice you will hear when you phone with an enquiry or to book in for a course..

What do people call you – Hoody

What does your role involve – Managing enquiries through to booking and completion of courses and tests

What you did before you came here – Majority of my working career has been in the Information & Records Management and IT sectors working for global leaders.  For nearly a decade I was Data Centre Manager in Offside Data Protection, managing 3 sites across Scotland, a multimillion P&L and a team made up of data centre specialist and drivers.  I have spent almost 8 years in training and development, my main focus being supporting training for customer facing teams and service desk agents.

What you are famous for – My passion and addiction is archery. I’ve competed at European level and I’m heavily involved in my local club, forest spirit archers, where I am the shoot / competition director & a coach.

Your favourite place and why – The forest, its time for relaxation and taking part in my sport

A favourite saying – “Aim big miss small”

How you are surviving this lockdown – It’s difficult not being able to spend quality family time and I’m missing competitions.
