Introduction

We currently work with freelance instructors and trusted third-party providers to deliver CPCS training to candidates at dedicated test centres. We are however, able to provide in-person support for the new CPD renewal modules at our training centre in Kirkcaldy.

The CPD modules offer cardholders and their employers a more effective and efficient means of demonstrating the competence and skills needed to renew CPCS Cards. A Renewal Test CPD tool is also available to support the process, making it simple for all operatives to recognise which CPD elements are required for renewal.

Key benefits include:

  • No category specific test.
  • More relevant learning to support card holder skill/career development.
  • Easy to access eLearning on any device connected to the internet (including smart phones).
  • Can be completed at a time and location to suit the card holder or employer.

The e-learning consists of five modules which cover all current CPCS Categories, reducing the number of modules required for each cardholder to complete prior to renewing their CPCS card. ‘Future fit’ topics covered include people plant interface, sustainable plant operation, eco operation, legislation changes and new technologies within plant equipment.

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) provides skills cards for the plant sector of the Construction and allied industries.  There are two types of cards within this scheme:
