CPCS

Introduction

We currently work with a freelance instructor to deliver our CPCS training at dedicated test centres. We are currently working on gaining CPCS Accreditation for 2021. We are however, able to provide the CPCS renewal test at our training centre in Kirkcaldy. Each renewal test lasts 15 minutes and up to 5 renewals can be taken in one booking. The price per person for this is:

1- 3 tests: £45 +VAT
Up to 5 renewal tests: £55 + VAT

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) provides skills cards for the plant sector of the Construction and allied industries. There are two types of cards within this scheme:

Trained Operative Card

Typically the route into becoming a plant operative, this card is valid for 2 years and achievable by:

Completing training necessary to bring you up to the standard required to enable you to pass the CPCS technical test.
Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test.

Achieving the CPCS theory test (within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test)
Achieving the CPCS practical test (within six months of the CPCS theory test and within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test).

Blue Competent Operator Card

To achieve this level of card you must:

Provide proof of achievement of the VQ for the category being applied for to the CPCS Test Centre
Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test
Achieve the CPCS theory test (within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test)
Achieve the CPCS practical test (within six months of the CPCS theory test and within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test)

On receipt of your first competent operator card, you will be sent a CPCS logbook. The role of the logbook is to record life-long learning and evidence towards the renewal of a competent operator card.
